Memorization steps

Hello friends!

I wanted to share some Scripture memorization steps that have worked well for me when I've been systematically memorizing passages.

Listen: Listen to the music, both while following along in your Bible and without it. Actively think about the words as you listen.

Sing along: Sing with the music, both while reading from your Bible and from memory.

Speak ahead: Listen to the music and try speaking the words aloud, phrase by phrase, before they are sung.

Sing independently: Sing the passage while reading from your Bible, without the music, to make sure you know the melody.

Write it out: Write the passage on paper from memory, underlining words you're unsure of and leaving blanks where you can't remember.

Check your work: Open your Bible and correct what you've written, highlighting the areas where you struggled. Use this as your study sheet, focusing especially on your weak spots.

Recite: Speak the passage aloud to a friend while hearing the melody in your head.

I'm also slowly working my way through writing and recording 1 Samuel! You can follow my progress by going to the Scripture song page and clicking "Download entire books at this link." I've recently added Luke 2:1–20 there as well.

Blessings to you, Instruments@SingtheKJV

Colossians 3 new tune

Hello!

Recently I wanted to memorize Colossians 3 but I didn't like the music that I had adapted from a hymn tune, "If Ye Then With Christ Be Risen." So I rewrote music for the first part of the chapter, and I hope you like the change.

The season of the resurrection is a good time to remember that we are risen with Christ! Blessings to all of you, Instruments@SingtheKJV
